By creating an account or using Treechat, you agree to these terms and our Acceptable Use Policy. Our Privacy Notice explains how we handle personal data.
1. The service
Treechat provides an AI assistant with chat, search, memory, creation and other tools. Features, model availability and limits may differ by plan, location, device and provider availability.
AI can be inaccurate, incomplete, out of date or confidently wrong. Generated content is not a substitute for qualified medical, legal, financial or other professional advice. Check important information and use your own judgement before acting.
2. Who can use Treechat
You must be at least 13. If you are not old enough to enter a binding contract where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you. Paid plans must be purchased by an adult with authority to use the payment method.
If you use Treechat for an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to accept these terms for it.
3. Accounts
Give us accurate information, protect your credentials and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorised access. You are responsible for activity under your account unless it resulted from our failure to use reasonable care.
You may not sell, share or automate access to a personal account, or create accounts to evade safeguards, usage limits or enforcement.
4. Your content
You keep ownership of prompts, files and other material you submit. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, limited licence to host, process, reproduce and transmit that material only as needed to provide, secure and support Treechat, comply with law and enforce these terms.
You confirm that you have the rights and permissions needed to submit your content and ask us to process it. Do not upload content that violates another person’s privacy, confidentiality or intellectual property rights.
5. AI output
As between you and Treechat, and to the extent the law allows, you may use output generated for you. Similar output may be generated for other people, and AI output may not qualify for intellectual property protection. We do not promise that output is unique, accurate, non-infringing or suitable for a particular purpose.
You are responsible for reviewing output and for how you use, publish or rely on it. Do not present AI output as human-created where doing so would mislead people or breach a rule that applies to you.
6. Free and paid plans
- The current price, billing interval and included allowances are shown before you subscribe. Taxes may be added where required.
- Paid plans renew automatically each billing period until cancelled. Stripe processes payment on our behalf.
- Treechat uses daily feature limits and a rolling weekly AI-cost allowance to keep plans sustainable. The allowance measures our estimated or recorded provider cost; it is not cash, credit, a wallet balance or a promise of a fixed number of messages.
- Different requests consume different amounts. Long answers, larger models, searches, files and image features can use more allowance than a short everyday question.
- Unused allowance does not roll over, transfer or have a cash value. Referral bonuses are promotional, may expire and are subject to abuse checks.
We may adjust reasonable usage and abuse controls to protect users and the service. If we materially reduce the core paid allowance or materially increase a recurring price, we will give reasonable notice before the change applies to your next renewal, unless an urgent legal or security reason requires faster action.
7. Cancellation and refunds
You can manage, upgrade, downgrade or cancel a paid plan through Settings and the Stripe billing portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period unless the checkout or law says otherwise. You will keep access to paid features until then.
Fees already paid are non-refundable except where required by law or expressly stated at purchase. If you are a consumer, any mandatory cancellation, cooling-off, refund or subscription rights that apply where you live remain unaffected. Contact hello@treechat.org if you believe a payment is wrong.
8. Acceptable use
You must follow our Acceptable Use Policy. In particular, do not use Treechat for illegal harm, exploitation, malware, unauthorised access, fraud, spam, rights violations or to bypass safeguards and cost controls.
9. Third-party services
Some features depend on AI providers, search services, travel and product sources, maps, storage, payments and other third parties. Their availability and results can change. When you choose a feature, we may send the information needed to that provider as explained in our Privacy Notice.
Links, prices, availability, scores, routes and product details from third parties are informational. Check the seller or source before booking, buying or acting.
10. Treechat and its software
We and our licensors own Treechat’s software, brand, design and service content, excluding your content and third-party material. These terms do not give you a right to copy, reverse engineer, resell or commercially exploit the service except where law expressly allows it.
Feedback is welcome. You allow us to use feedback without restriction or payment, but we will not identify you publicly without permission.
11. Changes and availability
We work to keep Treechat available and useful, but do not promise uninterrupted access. We may change or discontinue features for security, legal, provider, environmental, technical or product reasons. We will give reasonable notice when a change materially reduces a paid service and it is practical to do so.
12. Suspension and termination
We may restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary to prevent harm, investigate abuse, protect costs or security, comply with law, address non-payment or enforce these terms. Where appropriate, we will explain the reason and offer a way to appeal.
You may stop using Treechat at any time and ask us to delete your account. Provisions that by their nature should continue—including ownership, payment obligations, disclaimers and limits of liability—survive termination.
13. Responsibility and liability
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or death or personal injury caused by negligence. Nothing limits mandatory consumer rights.
If you use Treechat as a consumer, we are responsible for foreseeable loss caused by our breach of these terms or failure to use reasonable care, but not business loss or loss that was not foreseeable. If you use Treechat for business, to the fullest extent permitted by law our total liability relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid Treechat in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
14. Law and disputes
The mandatory consumer protections and courts available where you live are not displaced by these terms. Before starting formal proceedings, please contact us so we can try to resolve the issue fairly.
15. Changes and contact
We may update these terms. We will give reasonable notice of material changes, and changes will not apply retroactively unless required by law. If you continue using Treechat after the effective date, the updated terms apply.
