You can choose Essential only and still use Treechat. Change your decision any time with “Cookie choices” in the footer.
1. What this covers
Cookies are small pieces of data stored by your browser. Similar technologies, including local storage, can remember information on your device. This notice covers both.
2. Essential and preference storage
These items make requested features work, protect accounts or remember interface choices. They are not used for advertising.
| Storage | What it does |
|---|---|
| Authentication and session cookies | Keep you signed in, protect sign-in flows and associate requests with the correct account. Session or authentication expiry varies with security settings. |
| treechat_cookie_consent | Remembers whether you chose essential-only or allowed analytics for up to 12 months. |
| chat-model | Remembers the assistant option you selected. |
| sidebar_state and composer preferences | Remember interface choices such as whether the sidebar is open and how the chat composer is displayed. |
| treechat_referral | Attributes sign-up to a referral link you deliberately opened. It expires after the referral window or is removed at registration. |
| Security and load-balancing storage | May be set by our hosting and authentication infrastructure to prevent abuse, route traffic and keep the service available. |
3. Optional measurement
If you choose “Allow analytics”, PostHog receives limited page-view and product-event data through its EU ingestion service, while Meta receives page views and a small set of signup, activation, trial and purchase events for campaign measurement and optimisation. We do not send chat content, prompts or assistant responses to either service.
| Technology | What it does |
|---|---|
| PostHog local storage | Maintains an analytics identifier and limited event state so we can understand which features work. Identified profiles are used only after account identification. It remains disabled unless you consent. |
| _fbp, _fbc and treechat_meta_attribution | Preserve a Meta browser or click identifier plus landing-page and campaign details so we can attribute consented signups and purchases. They remain disabled unless you consent and expire after up to 90 days. |
4. Change your choice
Select “Cookie choices” in the footer to allow or reject optional measurement. Rejecting it stops future browser measurement, removes Meta cookies and clears Meta attribution stored on your account. You can also clear Treechat site data in your browser, but doing so may sign you out and reset interface preferences.
Browser privacy controls can also block storage. Some essential features may not work if all cookies or local storage are blocked.
